Gami. Kfc 2.0

Korean fried chicken 2.0. Far out I love them. There were 8 of us when we visited Gami. Thank God the wait was like only for 30 minutes. Line wasn’t too long and turnover rate was quick this is why I love Asian restaurants. We eat and we Go! Hehe. Small place and quick service. I love how they give you some side dishes like salad and prawn chips. As we were starving we chumped all of them down! We ordered half and half boneless chicken with sweet chilli and garlic sauce. Seafood and spring onion pancake. Tteok bok ki. Potato heaven. We shared the following dishes with 4 and we were stuffed. They don’t mess around with the portions and price was cheap as chips!!

The chicken was crunchy and juicy with the sauce. The flavour was perfect. Just as described. The pancake was a let down. There wasn’t much going on there. No flavour. Potato heaven was pure cheese!! You can taste all the different cheese. If you love cheese you will love this dish. Tteok bok ki… this dish is amazing. I could eat 10 of these. It’s a Korean dish that is like noodle rice but deep fried with chilli. I don’t know to explain it but give it a try. Crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. Chewy with a spicy hit every bite. Overall this place is awesome if you would like amazing kfc! Thus kfc 2.0.

Papa do… where’s mama?

Cabramatta, Sydney

So I heard new chicken shop opened up at cabramatta! So you know me. I had to check it out!! The reviews said it was going to be one of the best in the West for Korean fried chicken. So pumped. When I arrived at the venue it was kinda cool. Trendy with music and dimmed lighting. I went late at night as the store was about to close. The service was good and friendly. No complaints. We ordered the pulled beef brisket burger and brisket loaded fries with some original fried chicken with pho juice. When I tried the food I was really disappointed. The burger had no taste and it was cold. The loaded fries were soggy and cold as well. The chicken was super oily and had no flavour at all. The pho sauce was just weird. Maybe they had a bad night. Cause I’m reading through these reviews and a lot of people seems to like it. You win some. You lose some.

Frangos to tango please.

Norwest, Sydney

Oh gotta love Frangos!!! One of my fave places to eat. The chips and chicken burger are so simple yet so delicious. Well that’s because of the mayo and chilli sauce combo that comes with it. Oh and don’t forget that chicken salt!!! 12 dollars and you get a chicken burger with some fries and a drink. That’s a freaking bargain mate!!! And best yet it’s quality with quantity!!! Gotta love it! I love how the chicken is quite crisp when grilled. I usually struggle to finish all of the meal. They are definitely generous with the chips as well. Yummmmmmmmm… I will eat here like literally every week!! Go get some! Watch out you will get addicted to it!

Mint .. is it really minty though?

Burwood

One of my mates told me about this place as having one massive fat pho serving. So ya know.. I’m a phomo… a man that’s fearful of missing out on eating pho. I had to try it. I ordered their favourite famous mint signature pho with wagyu beef and when it came out it was gigantic. Well the bowl was. The taste was different. It had some sort of pepper kick in it. I didn’t really dig it like my mate did. It may appeal to other people. But for me it was a pass. I like my traditional pho broth. Kudos to the chef for trying something different. Also the bowl was huge but the portion of the actual noodles weren’t that much for the price. Overall it was ok. Good experience of different pho flavour. But didn’t get the oomph for me!

Chinese noodle house.

Chinatown, Sydney

It may not have the best service or vibe or space. But man. It serves out the food quite quick. Gotta love my people! Delicious. Affordable. It’s a place where you enjoy some handmade dumplings and noodles with no fuss. Eat in and go out with a bang. It doesn’t empty your wallet if you’re in a budget. Guarantee you will go out with leftovers on your table. Always leaving too full! You can bring a group here but you’d be waiting. I would go here with 1 or 2 people for a good feed. My motto… you know it’s a good joint when it’s focus is on food with some old school traditional Chinese chefs. Go try it out and you will not be disappointed. I believe the owner, an old Chinese man will be playing the violin as you eat/wait. One of the best in Sydney!

Bowery Lane

Hipster cafe joint in the heart of Wynyard. Cool vibe on 2 levels. Service was great and quite attentive. Food price was standard. Coffee great. I ordered the Reuben sandwich. Came out on a wooden board. Now.. I’ve been to the states quite a bit and I’ve had their Reuben sandwiches and it was off the chain! Tasted great with a lot of meat. Like a lot! So when it came out it had quite a huge amount of meat on it. I actually was surprised. It tasted nearly as good as the ones from the states. The flavour was balanced and the mustard gave a good kick. I don’t mind it at all! Not disappointed and had a great feed. What more could you ask for. Better than crap food! Worth it!

Oreganooooooo

When I first saw the pop up stand at Town Hall I did not know what it was. I looked closer and it was scrolls!!! I love scrolls. They had all sorts of flavours. Nutella. Peanut butter. Cinnamon. But I just had to go for the cookies and cream, apparently it was the best! And it was! The first bite was amazing! It was so soft and filled with cookies and cream filling. They really didn’t go stingy with the fillings. Definitely check them out for some sweet loving scrolls.

Belly Bao in my Belly!!!

Baot time I visit this place! I heard a lot of good things about this place and glad they opened their own store in Newtown! Got greeted by a friendly waiter. Cool new Asian vibe when you enter with a slick clean bar. I ordered the bao burger with an extra Pattie, Loaded fries cause what is life without fries, cracking pork bao, deep fried golden gaytime bao and pandan balls! Oh maannnn it was good. Like everything… the burgers were juicy and succulent. The cheese melted in my mouth just the way I like it. Fries with Japanese curry reminds me of being in Japan. Crackling pork bao is a classic.. a bit too soft for my liking. Deep fried golden gaytime.. OMG enuf said. Last but not least the pandan balls! I freaking love it!! 4 out of 5!!!! Go visit!

Hartsyard brings all the boys to the yard! Damn right….

Newtown, Sydney

Yoooooooooo second time in Hartsyard. The first time was on 2015 and 2nd time well…. now…

Still amazing!!! Tip: always book online. Walk ins are available however you may have to wait. Although if there are spaces on the bar you may also be able to eat there.

So I came here with work mates to celebrate my birthday and it was so worth it! The down side was pretty much the cost of the bill other than that service was awesome and food was ridiculously satisfying.

For drinks we ordered the house creaming soda. When it came out it looks like milk, all white and with a cherry on the top. It tastes like creamy milk at first and no fizz. But… you had to mix it up to get it all fizzed up. Dang what a bunch of rookies we were. 3 out of 5.

To open up we had the chicken skin. Oh my how much I love chicken skin!!! It was crunchy and flavoring was just right with the buffalo chilli sauce!! Put some more people! Gives you a kick in the mouth. And its a good type of kick. Ha! 4 out of 5.

20170907_194003

The 2nd dish we had the pumpkin dumplings. We just had to try this one. It was different and had good reviews. It came out beautifully presented with different ingredients on it. It was a subtle pumpkin taste with cheese and sauce. It’s a light dish that has no overpowering ingredients. Good to start off. I would say it’s a 2.5 out of 5 dish.

The third dish, we had the pulled pork. Hmmm my favourite dish of the night. The pulled pork served in a rectangle cube. With glazed bacon at the top and Apple with pork crackles on the side! Yummmmm. Pulled pork were soft however it was a bit dry this time round. Regardless it was amazing. Perfectly flavoured and soft. The bacon with the glaze was just amazing. Chewy and filled with the fatty flavour that we all love. I wished the glaze was all over the top of the pork. That would have made it a 5 out of 5. The Apple and crackling pork were a good side partner in crime. Just something fun to munch on. The cream (I think it was sour cream) made the taste of the pork subtle if you want it lighter.

The fourth dish, we had lamb ribs. Big ass dish with 4 pieces.. just the way I like it. It was smoking hot and looks crunchy. I love the skin tough. It was covered with brown sugar I believe and man, it was awesome!! Remember to lick it all around just because you can. It was moist under that skin as well and I devoured it. Juicy, crispy, crunchy, meaty. Perfect meat! 4 out of 5.

This time round, no dessert as we had it last time. The soft serves are to die for BTW!!! I mean we would love to if our stomach were bigger than our eyes. Instead we went to Hakiki Turkish Gelato. Overall I love this place. I have to say it’s one of my favourite American restaurant. Don’t forget to try the poutine and fried chicken. One of the best as well!

Hakiki Turkish Gelato

Newtown, Sydney

Hmmm….. gelatos are one of my favourite desserts in the whole chain of dessert universe. This place is pretty cool. It actually feels like you are in Turkey while in Sydney. With Turkish beats and music in the background and decorations across the room. They serve tea and coffee traditionally in Turkish cups. Prices are reasonable.

So what I’ve noticed with the gelatos are the unique flavours. You will never find them anywhere else. I had the melon and feta cheese and Turkish delight. Yooooooooo legit… Turkish delight actually tastes like Turkish delight. Imagine creamy milky sticky Turkish delight in a gelato format. If you love Turkish delight this would blow your mind! The melon and feta was amazing as well. The melon flavour bursts in your mouth and the small pieces of feta tastes like jelly. Haha. It just works!! But of course you won’t really taste the cheese. Check it out if you are in Newtown and bored of Messina! Sorry Messina.
