1090 Burger

Richmond, Melbourne

Just before an ANZAC AFL game thought it would be good to feed off fatty burgers… heard about 1090 burgers as it was close by. We arrived at burger place and it wasn’t packed, which was good! (As all other places were packed in the area due to the game). Cash only FYI.

Easy and simple menu, if you’re indecisive when choosing food it’s your lucky day! Ordered the Thunder burger – double patty with bacon and chilli mayo and salted caramel milkshake.

I have to say the burger was really good! It was juicy, fatty, cheesy and delicious! Bacon were crispy and sticky, the chilli mayo was not that spicy however there was a little kick to the taste (it tastes like mayo wit a little bit of chilli and mixed with melted cheese). It was a little bit too salty due to the generosity of the sauce for my liking, but other than that it was really good! If you don’t want the burger too salty just tell them not to put too much sauce.

The salted caramel milkshake… hmmmm.. so nice and cold! Thick and creamy milk shakes are my favourite and this one was it! You can taste the Salted caramel and surprisingly it wasn’t too sweet. On a hot day you should order one… or heck even in winter… even better!

Overall, must try if you are around Richmond area!

Il Dolce Freddo

Richmond, Melbourne

One of the best gelato places I’ve ever been to!!! Like really… I had the pandan and green tea flavours… wooowwww…so smooth, creamy and soft!! It wasn’t overly sweet nor overpowering with a single ingredient. Everything gelled so well together! The definition of refreshing gelato! Must go if you are around this area. You can always try all the flavours if you’d like. The servers were heaps nice and prices are not too expensive either.. however it doesn’t matter about the price when you’re paying for quality gelato!

Shall be back….

I initially thought the cafe was upstairs and later found out after going up it was the bar.. haha! The cafe by day and restaurant by night had an open floor with all the tables in the middle. Plain and simple vibe.

It was quite busy when we arrived. Waitress that served us was quite nice. I had the Shaksouka which was baked eggs with roasted peppers and shanklish… no idea what that is but the the dish pretty much tasted like eggs, tomato and cheese. Melbourne love their baked eggs. I think the dish was OK. Wouldn’t say it was the best egg dish that I ever had. CAUTION – the pan is freaking hot! I burnt my arm accidentally leaning on it. 😦 I also had a coffee – now… I am not a coffee drinker nor do I critique coffee but man when I drank it was so smooth and … nice… all I can say is that it was good! And last but not least I ordered a Canele which was a burnt caramel mini muffin dessert. Really good! Must order if you can… sticky and chewy caramel coating around the small looking muffin and moist in the inside. Just perfect.

I have to say it was quite pricey. That is the only downside. I hear this place is known for its dinner though. I shall come back next time and check it out!

Waffle on… yo

Melbourne, CBD

Waffles waffles waffles… the best type of food ever created… thank you waffle inventor! Cool little place near a train station around flinders. It can look like a dodgy place however we all know to never judge its food from the looks.

I tried the nutella waffle and man it was good. Simple and fresh. The waffle was hot, doughy and crunchy with melted nutella drizzled. I would definitely come back and try some other flavours. Til next time!

If you are around area check them out. It won’t break your bank and you can eat it on the go!

Nike Air Trainer 2 Tan

I like the colour tan… so I bought a pair of that colour… and voi la! Sweet shoe…looks dope with any blue outfit. The only bad thing about the shoe is the comfort and weight…It is heavy and hard to break into. But hey, bought them for half price on special.. $100. Ain’t complaining.

Bowery To Williamsburg

1st cafe visit in Melbourne and I personally think it was the best one! Small cafe in a quiet laneway but had the New York-ish vibe… pretty sure they’re trying to get a subway/train station look.. When you arrive you can smell the aroma of all the food just hitting your face.. amazing.. you can smell the bacon, smoked meat and fried eggs.

We got there quite late around 11 am and surprisingly quiet… nek minute… packed… I guess we came at the right time!

The waiters were heaps nice and helpful…. food smells and sounds amazing… not too pricey either.

I ordered a coffee and the chicken waffles… coffee was standard however it came with a kiss chocolate and the chicken and waffles was AMAZING!!!! The chicken was soft in the inside, crunchy skin on the outside and not too salty or dry…it tasted fresh and spices was just right! The waffles was doughy,  smooth and a little crunchy on the outside…Maple syrup drizzled on the dish had the right amount, the right sweetness and did not make the waffles or chicken soggy. PERFECTION!! Must try dish.. just do it!

Overall loved the cafe and food! Must go if you are in the city area!

Chin Chin

Melbourne, CBD

I wondered what the fuss is all about at Chin Chin…heard so much about it… is it hype or is it for real? So the first night we were in Melbourne, we arrived at the restaurant around 5.30 PM and the line was already going around the block. CRAY! It went pretty quick however, when we got to the front, we still had to wait for about 2 and a half hours… so guys… be prepared to wait or come early or you can chill at their bar downstairs! Unfortunately we could not wait that long…

So… we went back another day (another$) at around 4.30PM and the wait was wayyy quicker… 30 minutes. The vibe inside the restaurant was busy and loud… one thing they had on point were the song choices.. good food + good music = good times..

For the food we had:

Padseuw – loved it…it was sweet however the noodles were rolled therefore the sweetness was balanced (as the inside of the rolled noodles were not exposed to the sauce). Meat was tender and soft… not too chewy. Just right.

Barramundi apple salad – had to try something different you know what I mean?! Fish had no bones – tick! The apple made it super fresh and complimented the kickin spicy sauce. Never knew that apple, spicy sauce and fish could work.. but it did.

King Salmon – The salmon was pink and wrapped in banana leaf…the aroma of the fish combined with the banana leaf was amazing… you gotta sniff it out! When you unwrap the fish out of the leaf it just melts… so soft and juicy. I wouldn’t say it was the best dish … it was just ok for me… Not the biggest fan of fish … sorry.

Caramelised sticky pork – Sticky, crunchy in the outer layer and soft in the inside… always work well with pork.. great dish and delicious..you can’t go wrong with this dish.

Coconut sago – favourite dish of the night!!! AMAZING!!! If you love dessert you will love this.. the ice cream and mango sago at the bottom was just perfect!! The coolness of the ice cream and the softness of the mango sago were doing a tango in my mouth.. love it.. I could seriously order 6 of these!!

13062508_10208499739946503_6536235274298084929_n

Palm sugar ice cream with honeycomb – it was good however it wasn’t something special.. just a normal ice cream and honeycomb. Salted caramel was bitter though.. different but not bad.

Thai drink with mint and lychee – such a refreshing drink with the lychee and mint… sow good!

Overall, Chin Chin was not just a hype, it is a legit and an awesome restaurant. I am not the biggest fan of Thai fusion restaurants but this one is definitely one of my favourites! If you are in Melbourne make sure you go here early and eat your heart out! Remember to share dishes! Great service too… hopefully the Sydney restaurant that is opening in Surry Hills 2017 would be just as good!!! #fingerscrossed

Shortstop Donuts

no actually don’t stop…Melbourne, CBD

Cool little store in quiet street with seats outside, not so much inside. Donuts are made on site fresh with kitchen visible out in the so that people can watch. Simple and clean setup. Donuts are quite nice as well. I had the Creme brulee and coconut custard filled donuts. I liked the custard filled one more as I love custard. I wouldn’t say they are the best ones I have ever had (top ones are in USA….). Definitely try them out for donut lovers… they are one of the top ones in Australia I reckon.

Hardware Societe

Melbourne CBD

Woke up one morning and decided to check out the hype in Hardware Societe. The street has a lot of legit cafes… like there are lines in every single cafe – 45 minutes wait on average… crazy!!! We went around 11am and the wait was 45 minutes for a table of 4.

First impression when walking in was the bright wallpapers which gives it a morning looking vibe… pretty colourful too. I ordered the baked eggs DEUX and cold drip (first timer…not a coffee drinker..sorry). When the cold drip came out it was setup pretty nicely. Came with syrup and milk. Picture below. I see why people drink this stuff… it was very smooth… like smoovveeee…

13015107_10208484791092791_7763057691117435537_n

Now to the baked eggs… its frickin hot…. but good hot! I had chorizo, baked eggs, potatoes and it was delicious! My first time trying baked eggs… and it did not disappoint. (I assume they just put the ingredients in an oven pot and shove it in the oven?? Smart..gotta try this stuff at home) The aoli, peppers, eggs and chorizo balanced really well. The best part of the dish I think are the toasted almonds! I did not realise how amazing breakfast would be with it… crazy! When you take a spoonful of the dish with an almond in it….BOOM!! The flavour of the almond bursts in your mouth and now you will be hunting to get an almond in every bite…no joke..

13083176_10208484790932787_7043937349789072548_n

Verdict? Worth the wait, not too pricey and quick service. So good…
