Gami. Kfc 2.0

Korean fried chicken 2.0. Far out I love them. There were 8 of us when we visited Gami. Thank God the wait was like only for 30 minutes. Line wasn’t too long and turnover rate was quick this is why I love Asian restaurants. We eat and we Go! Hehe. Small place and quick service. I love how they give you some side dishes like salad and prawn chips. As we were starving we chumped all of them down! We ordered half and half boneless chicken with sweet chilli and garlic sauce. Seafood and spring onion pancake. Tteok bok ki. Potato heaven. We shared the following dishes with 4 and we were stuffed. They don’t mess around with the portions and price was cheap as chips!!

The chicken was crunchy and juicy with the sauce. The flavour was perfect. Just as described. The pancake was a let down. There wasn’t much going on there. No flavour. Potato heaven was pure cheese!! You can taste all the different cheese. If you love cheese you will love this dish. Tteok bok ki… this dish is amazing. I could eat 10 of these. It’s a Korean dish that is like noodle rice but deep fried with chilli. I don’t know to explain it but give it a try. Crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. Chewy with a spicy hit every bite. Overall this place is awesome if you would like amazing kfc! Thus kfc 2.0.

Not so Grumpy donuts.

Camperdown, Sydney

I donut really care about my donuts… jokes!!!!! I love my freaking donuts!!! If it’s 2 things that I care about is my chicken and waffles and my donuts! Hands down I think grumpy donuts has the best fatty maple bacon donuts! I mean yeah shortstop is great as well but grumpy donuts is a typical American donut joint! I have to say the flavour and presentation is on point. It ain’t dirty and pleasing to the eyes. I had the maple bacon donut and man it’s huge!!! The crispy bacon on the top is glazed with maple syrup.. omg.. amazing.. it’s like a maple bacon jerky. So chewy and crunchy at the same time. The donut perfectly fried and fluffy. The maple glaze is like maple syrup in an icing format. Not too sweet. Just perfect.

I also had the strawberry original donut as well that looks like the Simpson’s donut. The zestiness of the glazing was just perfect with the donut fluffy as well. I wish the new place was closer to the city though. I would make myself fat eating them donuts. Good thing or bad? Not so sure. Hehe. Love your work grumpy! It honestly tasted like the donuts I’ve tried in the USA. Amazing.

Frangos to tango please.

Norwest, Sydney

Oh gotta love Frangos!!! One of my fave places to eat. The chips and chicken burger are so simple yet so delicious. Well that’s because of the mayo and chilli sauce combo that comes with it. Oh and don’t forget that chicken salt!!! 12 dollars and you get a chicken burger with some fries and a drink. That’s a freaking bargain mate!!! And best yet it’s quality with quantity!!! Gotta love it! I love how the chicken is quite crisp when grilled. I usually struggle to finish all of the meal. They are definitely generous with the chips as well. Yummmmmmmmm… I will eat here like literally every week!! Go get some! Watch out you will get addicted to it!

Mint .. is it really minty though?

Burwood

One of my mates told me about this place as having one massive fat pho serving. So ya know.. I’m a phomo… a man that’s fearful of missing out on eating pho. I had to try it. I ordered their favourite famous mint signature pho with wagyu beef and when it came out it was gigantic. Well the bowl was. The taste was different. It had some sort of pepper kick in it. I didn’t really dig it like my mate did. It may appeal to other people. But for me it was a pass. I like my traditional pho broth. Kudos to the chef for trying something different. Also the bowl was huge but the portion of the actual noodles weren’t that much for the price. Overall it was ok. Good experience of different pho flavour. But didn’t get the oomph for me!

Chinese noodle house.

Chinatown, Sydney

It may not have the best service or vibe or space. But man. It serves out the food quite quick. Gotta love my people! Delicious. Affordable. It’s a place where you enjoy some handmade dumplings and noodles with no fuss. Eat in and go out with a bang. It doesn’t empty your wallet if you’re in a budget. Guarantee you will go out with leftovers on your table. Always leaving too full! You can bring a group here but you’d be waiting. I would go here with 1 or 2 people for a good feed. My motto… you know it’s a good joint when it’s focus is on food with some old school traditional Chinese chefs. Go try it out and you will not be disappointed. I believe the owner, an old Chinese man will be playing the violin as you eat/wait. One of the best in Sydney!

Wtfudge… just take my money!

Yoooooooooooo…. wtf.. like seriously. I heard about this place from a friend that it sells fried golden gay time. I’ve heard of fried ice cream but never heard of such thing. I though to myself how does this work. It can’t. It just can’t. It has to be full of fat.. sweet.. oil.. So I had to order it. Apparently when I visited, the waitress said there was a secret menu. Gaytime bomb was the favourite. So I had to go all out.. It was a caramel milkshake. With a cone waffle at the top . Filled with a fried golden gay time. Served with some amazing crunchy chocolate balls!!!! Holy smokes it was huge when it came out. I ate the gay time like there was no tomorrow. It’s was so perfect!!! Not oily at all. Instead it felt… refreshing!!! I smashed everything down. The milkshake was a bit too sweet unfortunately. Luckily the waffles and a bit of fruit balanced it out. Overall I was satisfied with my feed and would come here again and again .. and again.. Hehe. Take my money what the fudge!

Miel Container

Brisbane. Queensland

Eating my burger miel from a container. Sounds legit. First time in Brisbane for work and I just had to drop in to one of the highest rated burger joint. I believe this place is owned by Koreans as they have their own flavour to it. Dope. The place is awesome. So small yet it’s quite spread out with the seats around the joint. I had to ask for their best burger which was the miel burger. When the burger came out I was like ‘woah’.. it’s massive. Bigger than the container! Haha. Jokes. But I was happy with the portion that they gave me. Piping hot and sizzling. Just the way I like it. It was juicy, succulent and just… ok. Don’t get me wrong it was a great classic burger but there was nothing special to it. By the end of my meal I was full. Which is always good. It is not a super greasy dirty burger. It’s more clean. So if you want to get filled up but with a healthy kinda burger this would be it. Thanks for the miel!

Bowery Lane

Hipster cafe joint in the heart of Wynyard. Cool vibe on 2 levels. Service was great and quite attentive. Food price was standard. Coffee great. I ordered the Reuben sandwich. Came out on a wooden board. Now.. I’ve been to the states quite a bit and I’ve had their Reuben sandwiches and it was off the chain! Tasted great with a lot of meat. Like a lot! So when it came out it had quite a huge amount of meat on it. I actually was surprised. It tasted nearly as good as the ones from the states. The flavour was balanced and the mustard gave a good kick. I don’t mind it at all! Not disappointed and had a great feed. What more could you ask for. Better than crap food! Worth it!

Top 3 Burgers in SYD (Part 3)

3. Mister gee burger truck – truffle burger – beef pattie, caramelised onion,  american cheese, pickles and secret sauce.

17861942_10211716494963368_7551092314098394243_n

So I went here not realising that the signature burger was not on sale. Make sure you check their instagram before going as you may get disappointed as they only sell one burger on the night. I mean all the others are good but if you want the best from this food truck get this one. The truffle mayo is the secret sauce. Wonderfully made secret for the whole world to taste.. maybe just Sydney actually. Don’t be fooled by being just a food truck. When you take that first bite it will keep making you want more and more and more. Juicy, melting perfection of all the ingredients… however as I said earlier… it’s the sauce that gets you! It ain’t no normal sauce…  oily mayo type of aoli sauce. It doesn’t taste heavy, it tastes light so you can keep going and going. Wow. You won’t regret it.

Top 3 burgers in SYD

Yo yo yo yo…… just want to give some shout out to the top 3 burgers in town (IMO)! Some of yall may think I’m crazyyyy but it is what it is.. been around the world to eat burgers but that’s for another post, another time. So here it is. My top 3. Don’t judge me. Don’t hate me.

1. Bar luca – Blame Canada – BL beef pattie, maple glazed streaky bacon, American cheese and poutine.

My oh my… legit number one in sydney. Why? Let me tell you why. I’m gonna keep it simple, short and sweet. First of all, the meat, medium rare and juicy. When you take that first bite it literally just melts in your mouth. You can taste the smokiness which is something that I dig. The bacon. What a pig. Chewy and glazed with maple syrup. Ain’t no traditional bacon taste. The sweetness is to die for. The poutine. I have no idea what it was but dayummmmmmmmm it’s so good! So apparently its fries mixed with cheese curds topped with gravy. I have no idea how to make it but I’m gonna find out. Genius! It’s like having fries in your burger. Kill 2 birds with one stone. The whole flavour in your mouth just works so well together. Please try it! I’m begging you.
