Why Worry?

Have you always wondered why we worry too much? Worried that you won’t get the job, worried that you won’t be able to pass the exam, worried that you won’t meet the dead line, worried on how in the world you are going to afford a house, worried about what other people think, worried about life, worried about your kids, family and how it is all going to work out in the future.

Sometimes when I worry obviously it will stress me out. Can’t think straight, panicking and all, not enjoying life in general for that moment of your life. I guess you can say these are just some of the consequences of being worried. But this week a revelation from God came into my heart. I wondered how in the world did I manage to get here? 25 years old, 25 years on this earth, that is 365 days multiplied by 25 years, that is a long ass time! And yet even with all the worries that existed in my life I ended just….. fine. I think…. Ha! But seriously, the worries in our life may be valid, it may be logical but yet you and I are still here, reading this weird ass blog. We are still able to breathe, live, eat, shop and walk. How does that make sense?

The definition of worry(ing) is to think about problems or unpleasant things that might happen in a way that makes you feel unhappy and frightened

If we are worried about things of the future or life in general it means that at least something bad is about to happen. Maybe something bad did happen, but you are still here alive and well (or going through a rough season), maybe something bad didn’t happen, then sorry to tell you my friend, you and I kinda just wasted our time, thoughts and emotions. Do you really want to hear the truth? Here it is. You have gone through this situation from time and time again. Yes, you may say it’s different, but you have been worried before! It is pretty much a repeat of emotions and yet you still survived. What makes you think that you won’t survive again? If you know Jesus, He is a faithful God. You will get through the worries. Your worries may be like a storm, filled with wind, thunder and lightning while you’re in a boat. But always remember that Jesus is sleeping on the boat. He can calm the storm with His words. Maybe he wants your faith grow? Maybe he wants to test you? Maybe He wants to shape your character? Maybe he wants to teach you new things and revelations? We all forget sometimes that as long as He is in your boat He will not let you drown.

Matthew 8: 24-26

–Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”

He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.–

If you do not know Jesus, He is still faithful to you. There’s a reason why he is called ‘God’, never biased and always loving, unconditionally. He will always accept you for who you are and love you on where you are at. He is our father and our father will always love their child no matter what.

I have no idea why I am writing this, but I pray what I write will help those who are currently worried about things of this world. I pray that what I am about to write can bring His word to justice, that I can hit you straight in the heart and bring His word to life on where you are at.

The following verses came into my heart this week. Pondering, reading and meditating on it. Crazy, the Word speaks to whatever situation you are in. It’s like its alive. Funnily enough His Word is ALIVE! Read it, read it and read it.

Luke 12:25-34

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow or reap or gather into barns—and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his lifespan?

And why do you worry about clothes? Consider how the lilies of the field grow: They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was adorned like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans pursue all these things, and your Heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.”

From the passage above we can see Jesus telling his disciples (and us) to stop worrying. I know. I know. It’s easier said then done. Trust me I struggle with it all the time. But He is speaking truth. Do you always think on how you are going to eat? How you are going to put pants on? Obviously we do not. Because these are the normal things that we do without having to think as it doesn’t make us feel frightened or unhappy. So why do we think about bad things that may happen in our lives? Or worry? The truth is, I don’t think we have enough faith in Jesus. We do not believe in Him enough to get us the right job, the right guy, the right girl, the right house, the right life. But seriously though, as Christians believing in Jesus, His miracles and His promises why do we need to worry? Ask yourself and find out the answer for yourself. It will challenge you as it has challenged myself. For me personally I need to put more trust and faith in Him. To leave everything on His feet and let go of my worries. For my future and for my life.

The animals of this world exist and lived for years in the wild. Do they worry? Probably not… How do they live? According to the Word, God feeds them because He loves His creation. If He loves the animals, how much more does He love us?! He loved us so much whether we knew Him, loved Him, hated Him, mocked Him sent his only son Jesus to carry the weight of our sin and died on the cross so that we could live. WOW! That is how much He loved us. He knows all the things that we need (want is another story) and He will provide as His promises will never fail. Trust Him, seek Him and pray to Him and the things that you desire within your heart will be given.

He is a loving Father and we are His children. From my understanding, a normal human father would love his child with all of his heart. I have seen fathers that would do anything for their child. Giving them candies when they ask, carrying them when they get tired, buying food that they would like and the list goes on and on. So think how much more God will love us! For those who struggle with worries in life (including myself) meditate on the following verse and pray. That is all we can do as we cannot control every issues or circumstances that we face in our lives. I pray that you would find peace in whatever situation you are going through. Blessings.

Philippians 4:4-6

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
